2024 Formula 1 schedule, F1 picks, odds: United States Grand Prix projected leaderboard, start time, race prediction from top model
Having fallen to second in the F1 constructors' standings and with Ferrari also nipping at their heels, Red Bull Racing has had a month to make improvements and stop the bleeding during the Formula 1 break. Now they'll head to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas this weekend to put those improvements to the test in the 2024 United States Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen has won the last three grand prix at COTA and is listed as the -125 favorite (risk $125 to win $100) in the 2024 United States Grand Prix odds. Verstappen is followed by Lando Norris (+180), Carlos Sainz (+550) and Charles Leclerc (+900) in the US GP odds. The race begins at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
SportsLine's proven computer projection model simulated the United States GP 2024 10,000 times and come up with a surprising leaderboard.
Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model takes into account a slew of factors including track history and recent results.
The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Charles Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprising victory.
It followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and nailed Verstappen to win in Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It also called all 19 of Verstappen's wins during the 2023 season and nailed each of his seven wins in 2024 while also nailing Norris as a +200 winner in the Netherlands and then again as a +190 winner in Singapore!
It also called Alex Albon to finish in a points position for a plus-money payout before he went on to finish seventh in Azerbaijan and nailed a double podium for McLaren for a plus-money payout in Singapore too. Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen HUGE returns!
Circuit of the Americas first opened in the fall of 2012 and it's been the home of every United States Grand Prix since. The 20-turn, 3.426-mile circuit also began hosting NASCAR in 2021 and has become one of the premier road courses in North America. Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton (+1600) holds the record with six career victories in the United States Grand Prix. However, Verstappen has been the dominant force in Austin of late.
Now, the model has dialed in on the 2024 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections.
We can tell you the model is predicting a points finish for RB Formula One's Yuki Tsunoda that would pay out +175. Tsunoda is currently 12th in the 2024 F1 standings but he's only two points behind Nico Hulkenberg and Lance Stroll in a tied for 10th, and he's had seven different points finishes already this year.
Since joining Formula 1 in 2021, Tsunoda has made the points in all three United States Grand Prix. He finished ninth at Circuit of the Americas in 2021, 10th in 2022 and eighth last season. With RB narrowly holding off Haas for sixth in the constructors' standings, expect a big push from the team the rest of this season.
The model has also made its win prediction and is also targeting one significant underdog to make a charge up the leaderboard! Anyone who backs this driver could hit it BIG. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who he is before locking in any Formula 1 United States GP picks of your own.
