2024 Formula 1 schedule, F1 picks, odds: Brazilian Grand Prix projected leaderboard, start time, race prediction from top model
The Formula 1 season continues on Sunday with the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo, better known as the Interlagos Circuit. Red Bull's Max Verstappen won last year's Sao Paulo GP and he has a 47-point lead in the F1 standings as he pursues a fourth consecutive title, but McLaren's Lando Norris has been reeling him in for months. The rivals have had head-to-head exchanges that ended with FIA stewards penalizing one of the drivers in each of the last two weeks and the tension is building with Verstappen losing his grip as the sport's dominant force.
Verstappen is listed at +900 in the latest 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix odds behind four drivers, including Norris who is the race favorite at +200. He's followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc (+250), Leclerc's teammate and last week's winner Carlos Sainz (+350) as well as Oscar Piastri (+650) of McLaren on this week's F1 odds board.
SportsLine's proven computer projection model simulated the Brazilian GP 2024 10,000 times and come up with a surprising leaderboard.
Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model takes into account a slew of factors including track history and recent results.
The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Charles Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprising victory.
It followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and nailed Verstappen to win in Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It also called all 19 of Verstappen's wins during the 2023 season and nailed each of his seven wins in 2024 while also nailing Norris as a +200 winner in the Netherlands and then again as a +190 winner in Singapore!
It also called Alex Albon to finish in a points position for a plus-money payout before he went on to finish seventh in Azerbaijan and nailed a double podium for McLaren for a plus-money payout in Singapore too. Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen HUGE returns!
Interlagos Circuit first opened in 1940 and it's been the primary host of the Brazilian Grand Prix since it started in 1972. Alain Prost's six wins in the Brazilian Grand Prix are the most in F1 history and Lewis Hamilton (2016, 2018 and 2021) leads active drivers with three wins in the Sao Paulo GP. Verstappen could match Hamilton with a win this season and would also end a 10-race winless drought in the process.
Now, the model has dialed in on the 2024 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections.
We can tell you the model is predicting a podium finish for Verstappen that would pay out +175. It's been a rough few months for Verstappen, who won seven of the first 10 races this season to open up a big lead in the F1 standings but hasn't been on top of the podium since.
However, he fought back from 15th after suffering 20 seconds worth of penalties last week to finish sixth and was on the podium in each of his two starts prior to that. Verstappen won the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2019 and 2023 while finishing as the runner-up in 2018 and 2021.
The model has also made its win prediction and is also targeting one significant underdog to make a charge up the leaderboard! Anyone who backs this driver could hit it BIG. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who he is before locking in any Formula 1 Brazilian GP picks of your own.
