2024 Fantasy Football PPR rankings: Top 150 players with salaries does not feature Christian McCaffrey at No. 1

R.J. White shares his 2024 Fantasy Football PPR rankings

Last year I shared my Fantasy rankings at SportsLine for the first time. I do a lot of mock drafts every year with the CBS Fantasy team, and as we get into a regular rhythm of producing that content, I expect these rankings to change as my opinion solidifies on players I seem to be higher on than consensus and others I want no part of at their draft prices. Here's where you can get my overall top 150 for PPR leagues, along with my top 12 kickers and DSTs, with salary cap draft values for 12-team leagues that include both those positions in a 15-round draft.

One place I expect to be against consensus all summer is at No. 1, where I don't want any part of Christian McCaffrey in a PPR format. Yes, he's coming off a phenomenal season, but there are just too many reasons to fade taking him at the top of the draft. First, the obvious: he's 28, an age that is right at the end of a running back's peak years, and he's coming off two heavy workload seasons (381 touches in 20 games in 2022, 417 touches in 19 games in 2023). San Francisco rode him hard in the playoffs (78 touches in three games) and came up just short of a title, and I worry we'll start to see a step back either in McCaffrey's effectiveness or overall regular-season workload as a result.

McCaffrey is also on an offense with an incredibly effective passing game, and Brock Purdy proved the doubters (including myself) foolish last year with his level of play. He's earned the chance to take more of the offense on his shoulders, and he has an impressive array of weapons outside of McCaffrey, who saw the lowest per-game totals in receptions and receiving yards of his career last year. That's no fluke; he had fewer receptions per game in 2022 after being traded to San Francisco than he had at any point of his career prior to last season, and if his receiving work is being curbed due to the quality of the rest of the passing game, he needs everything to go right as a runner like it did last year in order to justify his high draft price.

I'm more comfortable taking multiple receivers ahead of McCaffrey in a PPR league, especially at No. 1 where I'd run the risk of missing out on my top 14 receivers, who I have ranked in my top 22. It's going to be much easier for me to start with a receiver I'm confident will deliver elite production and play catch-up at running back rather than vice versa. Last year, McCaffrey was worth the risk (though I had him No. 2 overall behind Justin Jefferson). This year, I'm going to go with what I believe is the safer position at receiver.

Below, you can find my full top 150, featuring players I'm higher on than consensus, interesting lottery tickets worth tucking away later in the rankings and even a few players at the end I don't want you to forget about come Draft Day. I've also include dollar values for your salary cap drafts.

So who are the top players at every position, and the top 150 players overall? Which breakout do you NEED to own, and which bust do you NEED to avoid? Which overlooked wideout can win you your league? ... Join SportsLine here to see R.J. White's PPR Top 150 Fantasy football rankings!
