Last week, we began our NFL futures preview by going down the entire menu of Super Bowl LVIII odds to highlight the best plays and my full betting strategy for wagering on the upcoming season's champion. Now it's time to dive deeper and examine division winner odds one division at a time.
In 2022, part of my futures portfolio involved hitting the 49ers to win the NFC West at +200 odds (I also had them at +2000 to win the Super Bowl and still wonder what could've been had Brock Purdy not gotten injured on San Francisco's first drive of the NFC Championship). I didn't play the Jaguars to win the AFC South even though I was high enough on them to back the Over on their win total, and as a result, I missed out on a payout of at least +925.
Other division winners last year included the Chiefs at +180 (how did we ever have those odds available?), the Eagles at +190, the Bengals at +210 and the Vikings at +265. We were also very close to seeing a major underdog come through in the NFC South, where the Buccaneers were -300 favorites and barely managed to eke out the win at 8-9. The other three teams in the division finished 7-10, including the Falcons, who were +4000 to win the division in mid-August.
Only the Chiefs, Bills and Buccaneers won their divisions after being the favorites before the season last year, giving bettors plenty of potential to cash big in 2022. Below, you can find the current odds to win each division at Caesars Sportsbook, followed by my breakdown of all eight divisions and who I think is worth backing.
