2017 Super Bowl Prop of the Day: Julio Jones' receiving yards
Â
Leading up to Super Bowl LI, SportsLine is offering free recommendations on a slew of player props. Our analysts also are producing a Prop of the Day.
The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook opened Julio Jones' receiving yards at 95.5 for Super Bowl LI.
Over 95.5 yards (-110)
Under 95.5 yards (-110)
I have a strong pick, even if I'm going to take a little detour to get there.
Careers have a way of circling back to the beginning.
Quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick are in their seventh Super Bowl, a journey that started with a win over the Kurt Warner-led Rams back in 2000.
They were able to limit the best show on turf -- an arsenal of talent featuring Az Hakim, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce and Marshall Faulk. The game plan did not include double- and triple-teams on one main talent, as the Rams could pick you apart in multiple ways.
Warner finished with 365 yards passing but negated that big day with two interceptions.
To defeat the Falcons, the Patriots will need a similar game plan. But they need one that will not mean an inordinate of focus on Julio Jones, as the Falcons have too many weapons to expose any defense.
And even if New England pays an unusual amount of attention to Jones, Matt Ryan has shown he's not afraid to make some dangerous throws because of the faith he has in the league's ultimate receiver.Â
Bank on Julio to do what he has done the last three years.
Pick: Over
