I'm always happy to fade the market, but I'm going to join it tonight as this line has moved 3 to 4 points in favor of the two win Pitt Panthers. Boston College has put together 6 wins, but its mostly against extremely soft competition. In contrast, while the Panthers only have two wins, they have had the tougher schedule. The Panthers now get a national game to try and salvage some of the embarrassment of this season against a Boston College team that just allowed the Hokies to put up 600 yards (including 363 on the ground). Don't let the records fool you, there's a reason the market is moving toward the Panthers.
We're trying to find some reason why Pitt should be made the favorite in this game (or any game) and continue to come up empty. The season has become a nightmare for the Panthers, as Pat Narduzzi's offense never got beyond BC transfer QB Phil Jurkovec flaming out as the campaign lurches from one loss to the next. BC is already bowl-eligible, and even even with the mobile Thomas Castellanos pulled for former starter Emmett Morehead at QB last week in the loss vs. VPI, the Eagles don't need Doug Flutie to have a decided edge in the pilot's chair this week.
