Ole Miss prides itself on running a fast-paced offense. Against a Georgia Tech team that should be defensive-focused, one would think that might slow it down. Well, except for the fact that the Yellow Jackets are horrendous defensively -- mostly because of an inability to stop explosive plays. The GT offense is going to struggle to score against a decent enough Ole Miss defense filled with SEC-caliber talent, and I don't see the Jackets being able to contain the Rebels' playmakers frequently enough to keep this within three touchdowns.
Georgia Tech’s offense doesn’t look any better this season. The Ole Miss defense has held its last six FBS opponents to 21 points or fewer, and the Rebels added a ton of talent from the transfer portal. Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart should be better in his third game starting in the Rebels offense. I like Tech to score a TD less than its odds project, and Ole Miss to score slightly more than its odds project.
The Rebels will have quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Luke Altmyer available on The Flats, and the Rebels' 6.64 yards per play average in the midst of an early-season quarterback battle is more than enough to consider this one a blowout waiting-to-happen. The Yellow Jackets are 11th in the ACC in plays of 10 or more yards allowed with 31. That's very alarming based on how Lane Kiffin's offense operates.
