I was going to pass on this game -- at full strength, UCF is better. However, Memphis starting QB Seth Henigan has just been ruled out in a surprise and in my mind that changes everything. Look at how the Tigers have performed on the road this season even with Henigan -- at the Liberty Bowl, they are dominant. Away? Shaky at best. Sophomore quarterback Peter Parrish gets his first career start and if he gets hurt? Memphis doesn't have another healthy QB on the roster. The Knights are struggling because they are on their backup, but he has been playing for several games. That plus home field and I like the win.
Memphis has been in a bad place for most of this season with some just incredible outputs in both ways, however its 35-17 win last week over Navy was the splash of cold water the Tigers needed. Normalcy is good for the 901 as they're the much better team than UCF and a Friday night game keeps their perspective and focus to prove it. Mix in a few turnovers from this Golden Knights offense and the Tigers roll tonight.
The Knights are 0-6 against the spread this year, are a mess at the quarterback position and are going up against a Tigers team that is averaging 6.99 yards per play. Offense drives the bus in college football, and Gus Malzahn's crew won't be able to keep up in this one.
