The Rams have covered five straight road games, including winning at Villanova and South Florida to reach the NIT quarters against Utah. The Utes are 16-2 at home and clicking offensively, but this will be a bigger challenge than they faced against Iowa's 157th-ranked defense (per KenPom). VCU checks in at No. 43 and holds opponents to 41.5 percent from the floor -- 37.3 percent over the last three games. It won't be a hard scout for VCU coach Ryan Odom; he and Utah coach Craig Smith both coached Utah State before leaving for their current jobs. Utah is 16-2 SU at home this season. The Rams are playing with a lot of momentum and are 5-2 ATS are road underdogs. VCU won their first two games of the NIT on the road and just defeated a very good South Florida team. The Utes took advantage of an Iowa defense that is lackadaisical in their last game and the Rams defense is much better than Iowa, especially rebounding. It’s very tough to win three games on the road but the Rams are the much better free throw shooting team if it comes down to it.

Guess the only team to win pair of road games this postseason? It's VCU, as the Rams have already taken out Villanova and South Florida, and now sit on the doorstep of a trip to the NIT Final Four. Rams top scorer Max Shulga (14.3 ppg) and wing Sean Bairstow (10 ppg) followed Ryan Odom from Utah State to Richmond and will relish this chance to face the Utes. Utah can cause problems with 7-footer Branden Carlson (17 ppg), who hit Irvine for 21 points in the first round, and versatile 6-6 Utes wing Gabe Madsen erupted for 31 on Sunday during the win over Iowa.
