Some of that early hysteria for the Hockey Club might be wearing off a bit. Utah looked a bit of a spent force on Monday in Newark when getting blanked by the Devils at the Rock, 3-0. The Club had scored a whopping 16 goals in tis first three games, all wins, but that was a pace that was always going to be hard to sustain. Is Connor Ingram (3-0-0 but a 3.54 GAA and only .871 saves) reliable enough in goal to compensate if needed? Meanwhile, with John Gibson out, Lukas Dostal has a clear shot at the No. 1 goalie spot for Anaheim, and helped his cause immensely in Saturday's 2-0 blanking of the Sharks in San Jose. Fifth game in eight days for Utah and fourth in a row on the road. The Hockey Club -- gonna have to think of a nickname for this season -- also comes off its first loss Monday and had to fly across country. The HC is very thin on the blueline with injuries to John Marino and now Sean Durzi -- he was averaging the second-most ice time (21:28) on the team and a major physical presence. I believe Anaheim will be a fair amount better this year (1-1 so far), and it happens to be the Ducks' home opener. We love backing teams regardless of sport in their first home game.
