Tom Brady next team: Chargers & Raiders play Patriots in 2020 but Buccaneers do not
Tom Brady has helped sports fans forget about the coronavirus if only briefly on Tuesday when Brady announced he was leaving the New England Patriots. On the FanDuel NFL futures odds, the four favorites as to where Brady will be playing in 2020 are the Tampa Bay Bucs (-220), Los Angeles Chargers (+160), Miami Dolphins (+750) and Las Vegas Raiders (+1500).
One of the most anticipated regular-season games of 2020 would be Brady facing the Patriots – especially in Foxboro – regardless of with which team. The Dolphins are in the same AFC East Division so they play New England both in south Florida and at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots do visit the Chargers in that $5 billion new stadium that the Bolts are sharing with the Los Angeles Rams. The Raiders will visit Foxboro – the 2020 NFL schedule will be out next month. This much we can promise you: If Brady goes to the Chargers or Raiders, that team's game against New England is going to be in prime-time and might well be the first Sunday night game of the season.
Tampa Bay, however, does not play New England. San Francisco also visits Foxboro, but Brady going to the 49ers is a +1900 longer-shot as the 49ers aren't ready to sub out a much younger Jimmy Garoppolo for a (soon-to-be) 43-year-old Brady.
The reining Super Bowl champion usually opens the season at home in the NFL Kickoff Game, which is of course Kansas City in 2020. The Chiefs play the Chargers and Raiders twice, and they visit both the Dolphins and Bucs. Very possible that a Chargers or Raiders game in K.C. is the 2020 overall opener if Brady lands in L.A. or Vegas.
