Ryan Tannehill projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, Tennessee Titans player profile, season outlook, simulations
Even without star running back Derrick Henry for the latter half of the 2021 regular season, the Tennessee Titans somehow wound up with the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs and with it, a first round bye.
But the team sustained a shocking home loss in the Divisional Round to the eventual AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, in part due to Ryan Tannehill's poor play and the three interceptions he threw.
Considering he threw twelve fewer touchdown passes and seven more interceptions, in one less game, than he did in 2020, there's reason for concern as to Tannehill's outlook in Tennessee.
In his first two seasons as Titans QB, Tannehill looked like his Miami tenure was a fluke and that he could be the long-term answer for a Titans franchise in desperate need of finding one. Now with the addition of Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 draft, there's no guarantee the 11th-year pro makes it through the season in a starting role.
If there's one thing Tannehill has going for him from a fantasy perspective, it's the seven touchdowns he's run for each of the last two seasons. But he averaged less than twenty rushing yards per game during that time frame.
The Titans' receiving core has been overhauled this offseason with the trade of A.J. Brown to Philadelphia. Robert Woods was acquired from the Rams, Treylon Burks was drafted in the first round, and veteran tight end Austin Hooper was signed away from Cleveland. A return to full health from Henry should also help in that defenses will once again focus on stopping Tennessee's rushing attack.
The Titans were the second least-likely in the league to throw the ball last season and that run-pass ratio likely won't improve much. Considering all that he has working against him, Tannehill might be best left on fantasy waiver wires at the start of 2022.
