Los Angeles Rams betting odds, Week 1 Vegas spread and Jared Goff NFL MVP chances
The Los Angeles Rams made big news Wednesday on the eve of their opener vs. the Dallas Cowboys by signing three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey to a five-year, $105 million extension with $71.2 million guaranteed. It's easily the largest deal for a defensive back in NFL history. Now Ramsey and the Rams look to christen the new $5 billion-plus SoFi Stadium with a win in the Week 1 Sunday night game vs. Dallas, which is a 3-point favorite on the NFL odds.
Dallas leads the all-time series 14-12 and has won four of the past five. Last year in Week 15, the Rams were blasted 44-21 at AT&T Stadium. Ramsey was a non-factor with just one tackle. Yet it might be worth considering betting Los Angeles for Sunday's game as the franchise is 5-0 ATS in its last five home openers. Of course, the Rams have never played a game at SoFi Stadium with no postseason.
The 2020 schedule presents some early challenges as Los Angeles has road games in four of the first six weeks, and three of those opponents reached the playoffs last year. However, the Rams finish with three home games in the final four weeks and should be favored to win them all.

EXPERT PICK FROM MIKE TIERNEY, LAST SEASON'S TOP NFL HANDICAPPER FOR SPORTSLINE:Â Over 8.5 wins
The Rams' window of opportunity remains open, if only by a crack. Much has been made of RB Todd Gurley and WR Brandin Cooks moving on, but both were physically limited in L.A. Rookie Cam Akers replenishes depth at RB that was compromised by Gurley leaving. The arrival of DT A'Shawn Robinson upgrades the D-line to one of the league's finest. Maybe too much credit is being lavished on coach Sean McVay, but he is crafty enough to keep the Rams north of .500. An early test of four away games in five weeks is offset by having to deal with only two 10 a.m. (PT) kickoffs.
