Trail Blazers vs. Warriors Tuesday NBA injury report, odds, props: Damian Lillard set at season-high 37.5-point total after 71-point game

What will Portland star Damian Lillard do for an encore Tuesday night at Golden State?

In Sunday's 131-114 win over Houston, Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard exploded for a career-high 71 points, becoming the eighth player to score at least 70 in an NBA game and first to do so in fewer than 40 minutes -- he logged 39. Lillard is back in action Tuesday night at Golden State, and Caesars Sportsbook oddsmakers have him set a over/under 37.5 points – the highest individual point total of the season and the highest this writer can remember in years.

Sunday was Lillard's fifth career game with at least 60 points – only Wilt Chamberlain (32) and Kobe Bryant (6) have more. Lillard also joined himself as the only player in history with at least 60 points and 10 made three-pointers in a game. He became the first player ever Sunday with at least 70 points, five rebounds, five assists and 10 made three-pointers.

While that 37.5-point total seems crazy high, Lillard has exceeded that number in seven of his past 10 games and each of his past four, in which he's averaging 47 points per game. He's also set at O/U 4.5 made 3-pointers, with the Over a -150 favorite. Lillard now has 13 career games making at least nine, breaking a tie for second all-time with the Warriors' Klay Thompson. Stephen Curry leads with 38.

Lillard used to get fired up more to play at Golden State than any other team in the NBA because he grew up in Oakland, but the Warriors left that city for San Francisco a few years ago. Lillard has scored 33 and 34 points in two games this season against the Warriors. In 33 career games against Golden State, Lillard has scored 31-plus points 15 times.

One offshore book offers odds on the next player to score at least 60 in a game and Lillard is the +350 favorite followed by the Mavericks' Luka Doncic (+700), who has had a 60-point game this year but has never gotten to 70. That any player gets to 75 points is +600 withNo at -1500. Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell also had a 71-point game on Jan. 2 vs. Chicago but it took him 50 minutes (with overtime) to get there.

Portland again will be short-handed Tuesday with guard Anfernee Simons and center Jusuf Nurkic both out. Golden State will be without Andrew Wiggins and Curry again. Draymond Green is expected to play after missing the past two with an injury. The Warriors are 11-12 this season without Curry in the lineup. Golden State has won eight straight home games, though.
