Thunder vs. Lakers Monday NBA injury report, odds, props: MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Davis questionable

Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could miss his second game of the season on Monday.

The lone late-night NBA tip on Martin Luther King Jr. Day features the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV. It could lose a lot of luster, however, with both MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder and Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis as questionable. That OKC is only a 1-point favorite tells you the books think SGA may miss his second game of the year.

Gilgeous-Alexander was added to the injury report this morning a right knee sprain, and day-of additions are never a good thing. He looked healthy Saturday when the Thunder won their fourth straight game, logging 37 points, seven assists and six rebounds against Orlando. Gilgeous-Alexander was a bit slow to get up after a collision in the fourth quarter but kept playing. It was the 19th straight game in which he led the team in scoring, last failing to do so on Dec. 2 in Dallas.

On the season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 31.5 points per game on 55.8% shooting from the field along with 6.4 assists, 5.9 rebounds and a league-best 2.3 steals per game. No player in NBA history has ever averaged at least 30 points on 55.0% shooting and a minimum of 2.5 steals per game.

Gilgeous-Alexander is a +250 second-favorite at DraftKings to win MVP. OKC's lone game without him this season came on Nov. 3 at home against Golden State, which won 141-139. DraftKings is listing Gilgeous-Alexander at over/under 31.5 points for Monday but not listing any other Thunder individual player props.

For once, the Lakers are listing LeBron James as probable instead of questionable. He usually plays regardless of the injury tag but didn't on Saturday in Utah and L.A. predictably lost 131-125 to fall two games under .500. Davis was just 5-for-21 from the field for 15 points but notched a triple-double (only the second of his career) by adding 15 rebounds and 11 assists.

Davis is usually probable on the injury report so it's a bit newsworthy that he's questionable (ankle). Davis last missed a game on Dec. 15. He is set at O/U 28.5 points and 12.5 rebounds. Guard D'Angelo Russell, who started in James' place on Saturday and erupted for 39 points, is questionable due to non-COVID illness. The Lakers say he will be re-evaluated pregame. Cam Reddish is out with knee soreness.

These teams have spilt two meetings this season, both in Oklahoma City.
