Not the best week for the Cavs but at least Donovan Mitchell was back in the lineup on Thursday at Phoenix and posted his best scoring total (24) in five weeks after battling different injuries in March and early April. Defense has been an issue lately for the Cavs, however, and the Lakers have been hitting overdrive as LeBron (facing his spiritual team) & Co try their darnedest to pull clear of the play-in round. LA is scoring at a 128 pg clip across its last eight wins and carries a 12-5 "over' mark since late February into this afternoon. Note Cavs were "over" six straight before their loss at Phoenix. Play Cavs-Lakers "Over"
This number is simply way too low for Mitchell in what projects to be a high scoring matchup. Mitchell is averaging just under 27 PPG and 6.0 APG so we're getting a serious discount on this combo line. Mitchell has struggled recently, however he looked good in his previous outing against the Suns scoring 24 points on 17 shot attempts. I'll tae the discount in what should be a high scoring game against the Lakers.
Evan Mobley is quietly having a sensational season. His counting stats may not jump off the page, however he has been extremely efficient and plays excellent on both ends. Mobley has been on a tear recently and is averaging 17/10/4 on 60/40/70% shooting splits. This is a plus matchup against a Lakers team that really doesn't have an answer for Mobley, in addition to being super generous to opposing PFs. Clevelands defense has struggled recently as well which has led to paced up higher scoring environments. Look for Mobley to stay hot in what should be a great matchup.
