Feels like a potential trap game for the Phils, and I'm assuming Bryce Harper isn't in the lineup after leaving Wednesday's win in Toronto with an elbow contusion. Harper has been battling numerous issues of late and a quick IL stint might not be the worst thing. All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm hasn't been able to start since last week due to injury. And Ranger Suarez is 1-5 with a 6.25 ERA over his past seven.
All eyes for the Phils tonight on Ranger Suarez, whose recent return to active duty has Rob Thomson hopeful that he can rediscover early-season form and be a part of the postseason rotation. Not yet on the evidence, however, as in his second start since his return last Friday vs. the Braves, he was shelled for four runs and five hits (two homers) in just 4 IP of an eventual 7-2 loss at Citizens Bank Park. If Suarez can't improve, the pesky Marlins have a chance to stay close, especially as ex-A's starter Adam Oller has looked good in recent outings, allowing just one run and six hits across 11 2/3 IP vs. the Cubs and Giants. Play Marlins on Run Line
The Phillies are back, having won 9 of their last 11 games. The Marlins remain not very good and they are 26-45 at home. This will be the third game off the injured list for Phillies starter Ranger Suarez and I like him to lock in here and he has excellent history in this ballpark (2.88 ERA in 50 innings). You know what I like to say, the most likely outcome is a multi-run Phillies win, so we're moving the odds with the run line.
