We'll simply ride Houston at the moment—as well as buck Toronto. The Astros have shifted gears, now breathing down the Mariners' necks in the AL West after winning 10 of 11, including Monday's 3-1 win at Rogers Centre. This is not the first time Houston has made a charge right about this stage of the season. And there is encouragement in the pitching staff as new faces like Spencer Arrighetti (no runs and just three hits allowed against Colorado across 7.0 IP in his last start) begin to produce. As for the stumbling Blue Jays, they've now lost 10 of 13. Note: Jose Berrios has a 5.32 ERA his last four starts.
Houston continues to cash for us, and I will ride them again, even with one of its lesser starters on the bump. The 'Stros are now on a 10-1 run, with all of those wins by two runs or more. The bats were surprisingly quiet yesterday against a spot starter -- though they still cashed -- and I expect more damage today. The Jays bullpen is a real problem, and several of Houston's impact bats have solid splits against Jose Berrios. We are getting a nice price here on the 'Stros. They have been getting length from their starters so I expect a quick hook for Spencer Arrighetti if he doesn't have it tonight. Toronto is just 15-27 at home ATS.
