Wish I had been fading the Angels for a week like John has successfully, and I'm sure now that I am they will win tonight. However, I have to tag along simply as Mike Trout is out again. Yes, Shohei Ohtani could beat Boston by himself on the mound/at bat, but the Halos are simply horrific offensively right now and their lineup is trash without Trout, Taylor Ward and Anthony Rendon. Max Stassi is hitting third?! Also agree with Kenny White on the Under 8 runs for what it's worth. Note: As soon as I played this the Sox ruled out Xander Bogaerts and Trevor Story. LOL. Of course they did.
The Angels are in the middle of a season-crushing losing streak. It's now at 14 games. Enough is enough. It's going to end and it's going to end very soon. We're calling tonight. They've lost three straight by exactly one run and the previous game came on seven runs worth of homers in the last two innings. Basically, there is some positive regression coming. Shohei Ohtani starts on the hill for the Angels and he dominated the Red Sox last month. Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta has been brilliant in his last six starts (1.32 ERA). Too brilliant. He's not *this* good. We're sticking with the regression theme. The Angels finally win one.
The Angels have scored two runs or fewer n seven of their last nine games and just a total of 17 runs in that span. Boston's Nick Pivetta has been dealing as of late. He has allowed one or zero runs in five of six starts. In his last 41 innings, he has allowed just 22 hits, six earned runs, eight walks while recording 37 strikeouts for an ERA of 1.32. Shohei Ohtani counters for the Angels, and he must be at his best to give the Angels a chance. These factors provide a strong position on the Under.
We have now cashed fading the Angels in 7 straight games. We were against them their last game against the Yankees, all three losses against the Phillies, and now the first three losses of this series against the Red Sox. There is no reason not to keep fading them. Nick Pivetta has been dominant since the first month of the season pitching six straight quality starts including seven scoreless in his last outing. Shohei Ohtani has been extremely inconsistent this season allowing 9 ER and 5 HR in his last 9 IP. The Red Sox bullpen isn’t in great shape, but that will happen when you’re winning as much as they are. The Red Sox have also won seven straight games now. I’ll take the Red Sox at plus money against a team who has lost 14 straight games any day of the week, fade the Angels until they win.
