UFC 210: Is Cormier undervalued in rematch with Johnson?

The main event Saturday at UFC 210 in Buffalo features a much-anticipated rematch in the light heavyweight division between title-holder Daniel Cormier and challenger Anthony Johnson. Hugh Citron breaks down the fight and offers his pick.

This Saturday, Daniel Cormier defends his UFC light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson in the main event from Buffalo, N.Y.

This is rematch from a fight in May 2015 when Cormier won the vacant title by finishing Johnson in the third round.

Johnson had his moments, flooring Cormier early in the first round with a big overhand right.

CBS SPORTS: WHY JOHNSON DESERVES TO BE A CHAMPION

Cormier has only one loss on his record, which came at the hands of the great Jon Jones by decision in January 2015.

Johnson has been on a roll since the loss to Cormier, with three wins by knockout. Johnson, who used to fight in the welterweight division, even drifted up to heavyweight in a World Series of Fighting promotion.

But he has really found his form at 205 pounds and, at only 33, still has plenty of time to be a major player for years to come.

This fight could play out a couple of ways.

Cormier would love to see it stay in close range, where his great inside fighting and world-class wrestling would give him a huge advantage.

Johnson would like this fight to stay on the feet and at an open range, where he can let go with his great strikes from both punches and kicks.

I'm surprised Johnson has been bet up to a slight favorite, as it seems oddsmakers are giving him a lot of respect off those recent knockout wins.

CBS SPORTS: 10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT UFC 210

I like Cormier here because he is probably the most cerebral fighter in all of MMA and always has a great game plan.

Look for him to keep this fight in a tight range but, even if space opens up, I feel his stand-up game has always been underrated.

    Pick: Cormier (-105)

Middleweights: Gegard Mousasi (-130) vs, Chris Weidman (+110)

The UFC 201 card also features a huge fight in the middleweight division between former champion Chris Weidman and always-tough Gegard Mousasi.

I've been waiting for this one for a while, and was hoping the oddsmakers would overvalue Weidman -- but they got this one right.

Mousasi is a short favorite, at not too steep of a price, but I was looking for maybe a little plus-money.

This is clearly a case of fighters going in opposite directions, as Mousasi has won his last four fights, the last three by knockout, whereas Weidman has lost his last two by knockout.

I'm not selling Weidman short because he is still one of the best wrestlers in the division and always comes into his fights in great shape, but I don't feel he has the dangerous quick-strike ability that gives Mousasi trouble.

Mousasi has always been an underrated fighter. He's hungry for a win here to set up a big payday down the road. Look for him to finish Weidman early.

    Pick: Mousasi (-130)

2017 MMA record to date: 7-10, -3.70 units
