Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh odds, line, spread: Computer model reveals college football picks, predictions for Week 9, 2024

SportsLine's advanced computer model has simulated Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Syracuse Orange on Thursday 10,000 times

The No. 19 Pittsburgh Panthers look to continue their undefeated season with a matchup against the Syracuse Orange in ACC action on Thursday night. Pittsburgh improved to 6-0, including 2-0 in the ACC, with a 17-15 win over California on Oct. 12, before having a bye last week.

Syracuse improved to 5-1, including 2-1 in the ACC, with a 24-17 win over NC State on Oct. 12 before also having a bye. Pittsburgh is currently on one of the largest single-season turnarounds in the country, already doubling its win total after going 3-9 last season.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium. The Panthers are a 5.5-point favorite in the latest Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh odds from SportsLine consensus, while the over/under for total points scored is 62.5. The Panthers are -212 money-line favorites (risk $212 to win $100), while Syracuse is listed at +172. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college football odds page.)

Before making any Pittsburgh vs. Syracuse picks or CFB predictions, you need to see what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated a profit of well over $2,000 for $100 players on its top-rated college spread football picks, and it is a sizzling 14-7 on all top-rated picks over the past four weeks of this season. Anyone who has followed it has seen STRONG returns!

The model knows the Panthers have one of the best offenses in college football this season, led by redshirt freshman quarterback Eli Holstein. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback has the combination of size, arm strength and athleticism to orchestrate a top offense. He has thrown for more than 300 yards in four of six games this season with at least three passing touchdowns in five of his first six games. He's also averaging 44.3 rushing yards per game as a quarterback giving defensive coordinators nightmares this season.

The model also has taken into account that the Orange have a stud quarterback of their own. Kyle McCord, a senior transfer from Ohio State, is seventh in college football in passing yards (2,160 yards) and he's thrown for more than 330 yards in all six games this season. McCord is averaging 360 passing yards per game and at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, he's a challenging quarterback to take down. He's thrown for multiple touchdowns in all six games this season and his 19 passing touchdowns are tied for fifth in college football.

The model has simulated Pittsburgh vs. Syracuse 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you the model is leaning Under on the total, and it also says one side of the spread hits in well over 50% of simulations!
