Saints vs. Chiefs betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 5 Monday Night Football

Before you lock in your plays for Monday's New Orleans at Kansas City NFL game, check out our full betting preview.

Don't be surprised if many Kansas City fans in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium for tonight's NFL Week 5 finale between the Chiefs (4-0) and New Orleans Saints (2-2) are a bit distracted for chunks of the game. Why? Because MLB's Royals will be playing Game 2 of the AL Division Series at the New York Yankees on Monday night, with that first pitch about 35 minutes before kickoff. The Chiefs are 5.5-point favorites with a total of 43, and the weather looks perfect for fall football.

Patrick Mahomes likely would have been selected by New Orleans at No. 11 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft had Kansas City not traded with Buffalo to move up ahead of the Saints at No. 10 to grab the future superstar and two-time league MVP. Then-Saints coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis were smitten with Mahomes. He could have sat and learned for at least a year behind future Hall of Famer Drew Brees.

One big story in the NFL entering Week 5 was Raiders Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams requesting a trade. Several sportsbooks put out odds on where he might land, and both Kansas City and New Orleans were high up on the list. At DrafKings, for example, New Orleans was +275 (behind only the Jets at -110) and K.C. was +1100. The 31-year-old Adams wants to play with a quarterback he knows, and he knows the Saints' Derek Carr very well from not just their Raiders days, but also when they played together at Fresno State.

The Chiefs, on an NFL-best 10-game winning streak (including the playoffs), are now badly in need of help with the potential season-ending injury suffered by No. 1 wideout Rashee Rice in Week 4 -- and Miami's Tyreek Hill all but surely isn't coming back in a trade despite the rumors. Kansas City surely would have to overpay to convince the Raiders to trade Adams to a division rival. The Saints have a really good young WR in Chris Olave and Rasheed Shaheed is solid, but there's not much else in the receiving corps.
