Philadelphia Eagles 2023 futures: Super Bowl odds, win total picks, best bets, schedule and more

What can you expect from the Philadelphia Eagles this season? SportsLine experts have you covered.

After matching the franchise record with 13 wins during their 2017 championship season, the Philadelphia Eagles failed to reach double digits each of the next four campaigns. They set a new mark with 14 victories last year and will be expected to produce a similar amount in the upcoming 2023 NFL season. Philadelphia also is being looked at as the top team in the NFC to win the Super Bowl, as it is behind only Kansas City at +750 in odds to win the championship after losing to the Chiefs in a nail-biter in last year's title game.

The Eagles arguably were the most well-rounded team in the NFL during the 2022 regular season, finishing third in both total offense (389.1 yards) and scoring (28.1 points) while ranking second in total defense (301.5). The offense is led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recorded career highs of 3,701 passing yards and 22 touchdown tosses despite missing two games with a shoulder injury. The 24-year-old also ran for 760 yards and was second in the league with 13 rushing scores before adding five in the postseason to set the NFL record for combined TD runs by a QB in one season.

Hurts has the benefit of having one of the best receiving duos in football with which to work. A.J. Brown set a career high with 1,496 yards, which was fourth in the NFL, and matched his career best of 11 TD catches. Meanwhile, DeVonta Smith improved upon a strong 2021 rookie campaign, racking up 1,196 yards while hauling in seven scoring passes. Philadelphia also has one of the top tight ends in the league in Dallas Goedert, who has amassed over 700 receiving yards each of the last two seasons.

The Eagles also had one of the best ground attacks in the NFL last year as they ranked fifth with an average of 147.6 yards and led all teams with 32 rushing touchdowns. They added 10 scores in the playoffs to break the single-season record of 38 set in 1924 by the Frankford Yellow Jackets. Miles Sanders signed with Carolina after finishing fifth in the league with 1,269 rushing yards, but Philadelphia is hoping it won't miss a beat with the offseason additions of D'Andre Swift (18 rushing TDs in 40 career games with Detroit) and Rashaad Penny (749 yards, six TDs with Seattle in 2021).

On the other side of the ball, Philadelphia made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks as it registered a league-high 70 sacks -- falling two shy of the single-season record. The Eagles were the first team in NFL history to have four players with double-digit totals in a campaign, with linebacker Haason Reddick tying for second in the league with 16. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave signed with San Francisco after setting a career high with 11 sacks last year, but Philadelphia is hoping 2023 ninth-overall draft pick Jalen Carter will step right in and make an impact.
