Odds Say Marshawn Lynch Fills Void Left by Latavius Murray
On Wednesday, running back Marshawn Lynch came out of retirement and agreed to a two-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.
Lynch, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, didn't play a down last season. In 2015, he appeared in just seven games, gaining 3.8 yards per carry and scoring just three times.
Still, according to SportsLine's projections, Lynch will fill the void left by Latavius Murray, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
CBS SPORTS: LYNCH TO WEAR NO. 24
Murray was the Raiders' leading rusher last season, scoring 12 times and rushing for almost 800 yards.
Following Lynch's signing, SportsLine projects the Raiders to win 8.5 games, the same number they had with Murray as the lead back.
Oakland has a strong 44.4 percent chance of making the playoffs and a 28.3 percent chance of winning the AFC West. They're 2.4 percent to take home the Lombardi Trophy.
BookMaker.eu set Lynch's over-under for rushing touchdowns at 8.5, meaning there's roughly an equal likelihood he scores more or less than 8.5 TDs.
BookMaker.eu set Lynch's over-under for rushing yards at 975.5, which would be the most he's had in a season since 2014.
BookMaker.eu is more bullish on the Raiders' season-long win total, telling SportsLine it'll likely open around 10.5.
Rather than have a massive hole after Murray left, Lynch turned the Raiders' season upside-down.
According to CBS Sports, the Raiders have the fourth-toughest schedule. Their opponents have a combined win percentage of 56.4.
