NFL odds: Could Bengals' Joe Burrow break rookie record for touchdown passes?

The Cincinnati Bengals were set to begin their virtual offseason program on Monday, one of 20 teams to do so. That means No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from LSU, will get his first chance to work with his new team. All facilities remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the virtual offseason program consists of three straight weeks of classroom instruction, workouts and non-football educational programs that use videoconferencing.

Burrow is the +225 favorite at William Hill sportsbook to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, which isn't a surprise because he was the first pick and is essentially guaranteed to start from Day 1 – the Bengals still have Andy Dalton on the roster, but he'll be released any day now.

The site has a handful of yes-only props on Burrow's rookie year, assuming 16 games. For example, that he goes over 3,700 passing yards is -118 (wager $118 to win $100). Burrow is the same price to go over 24 passing touchdowns.

One interesting prop at +163 is whether Burrow throws more than 27 touchdown passes. That's the NFL rookie record, set by Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield in 2018. He broke the mark of 26 set by Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson with a fourth-quarter 1-yard pass to Antonio Callaway in Cleveland's regular-season finale in Baltimore. While Manning and Wilson both started all 16 games their rookie seasons, Mayfield started only 13.

Burrow is also +250 to throw for more than 4,374 yards, which is the rookie record set by Andrew Luck in 2012. Manning holds the rookie record with 28 interceptions and Burrow is a +800 longer shot to top that. Check out Burrow's Fantasy projections here. 

That Burrow wins NFL MVP? A $100 wager there would return $10,000 at William Hill. The Associated Press, which began awarding the MVP in 1961, has never given it to a rookie.
