NFL Draft 2017: Broncos Even Money to Trade Up in First Round
The Denver Broncos hold the 20th pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. And widespread speculation suggests they're targeting Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey.
The Broncos suffered through plenty of issues in the run game last season, including a team average of just 3.6 yards per carry.
The former Stanford stanout could be the answer.
CBS SPORTS: BRONCOS' TOP FIVE NEEDS
"McCaffrey is perfectly suited to today's wide-open NFL, offering the speed and shiftiness to make defenders miss a runner, receiver, and returner," CBS Sports said.
But there's a problem: McCaffrey may not be available when the Broncos are on the clock. They may need to trade up in order to land the Colorado native.
According to BookMaker.eu, the Broncos are slight -130 favorites to trade up in the first round of the draft, presumably to take McCaffrey. That means you'd need to wager $130 in order to win $100.
They are +100, or even money, not to trade up in the first round. There have even been reports that Denver will trade down with Cleveland, who could move up in the 18-21 range to take a QB.
"Christian McCaffrey could create buzz in Colorado like no player since Tim Tebow left town," the Denver Post said.
Predominantly Orange said, "Ed McCaffrey and John Elway have the former Super Bowl-winning teammates connection, Christian went to high school in Colorado, and the Broncos had a bad enough season to have a legitimate shot at him. Broncos players even want him in Denver."
The Broncos have plenty of issues besides running back, including shoring up the offensive line, which is why a recent CBS Sports mock draft had them targeting Alabama OT Cam Robinson.
"Robinson's stellar performance against Texas A&M's Myles Garrett last year offers evidence that he can handle edge rushers," CBS Sports said. "He held the likely No. 1 overall pick without a sack."
