NFL: Denver Broncos add RB depth in pass-catcher Theo Riddick
Former Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick didn't take long to find a new home. The six-year veteran inked a deal with the Denver Broncos, the team announced on Sunday.
Riddick, who was released by the Lions last week, also met with the New Orleans Saints. But he elected to head to the Mile High City, where he'll reunite with Broncos running backs coach Curtis Modkins, who worked with the Lions from 2013-15.

Riddick is being brought in due to his pass-catching skills. As a rusher, he ran 288 times for 1,023 yards and five TDs in six seasons, but he also caught 285 balls for 2,237 yards and 14 TDs, averaging 62 receptions per season the last four years. In 2018 he caught 61 balls for 384 yards and ran 40 times for 171 yards.

He's not likely to see many carries in Denver, either, with Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman ahead of him on the depth chart. But he'll likely take away some touches from last season's third-down back, Devontae Booker. Booker caught 38 balls last season, most among the Broncos' backs.Â
