Green Bay Packers 2023 futures: Super Bowl odds, win total picks, best bets, schedule and more

What can you expect from the Green Bay Packers this season? SportsLine experts have you covered.

Stability at the quarterback position has been a trademark of the Green Bay Packers, from Bart Starr to Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers. Each of those three signal-callers spent at least 15 seasons as the team's starter, and the Packers are counting on Jordan Love to follow the trend as he takes the reins in 2023. The 24-year-old will be just the third player since Don Majkowski in 1992 to be Green Bay's Week 1 starting QB - following Favre and Rodgers, who each made 15 season-opening starts.

Love has appeared in only 10 games since being selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, completing 50-of-83 pass attempts for 606 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. His only start came in Week 9 of the 2021 season at Kansas City, where he threw for 190 yards with a TD and a pick in a 13-7 loss. Love has a strong arm and is mobile, so the Packers are hoping three years of learning from four-time league MVP Rodgers help him become an elite QB in his own right.

Two of Green Bay's top receivers (Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb) followed Rodgers to the New York Jets during the offseason, so Love won't have much in the form of experience with which to work. Christian Watson had a solid rookie season in 2022, making 41 catches for 611 yards and a team-high seven touchdown receptions. Romeo Doubs also will be entering his second year in the NFL after recording 425 yards and three TDs on 42 catches last campaign.

The Packers expect the pair to improve upon their rookie seasons and made a concerted effort to provide more options for Love through this year's draft. Tight end Luke Musgrave and receiver Jaylen Reed were taken in the second round and are likely to start, while tight end Tucker Kraft and wideouts Dontayvion Wicks and Grant DuBose were grabbed later in the draft and could see a fair amount of playing time.

Green Bay has a strong ground attack on which Love can rely. Aaron Jones set a career high in 2022 with 1,121 rushing yards. The 28-year-old also hauled in 59 passes for 395 yards and five touchdowns, while A.J. Dillon ran for 770 yards and seven TDs. On the other side of the ball, the Packers' secondary suffered as a result of the team's blitzing frequency, so the club used its 13th overall pick in the draft on linebacker Lukas Van Ness to help get to opposing quarterbacks without blitzing so often.
