Fantasy Football: Some safe targets who won't blow up your roster
Hitting on a few unexpected sleepers can give your Fantasy football title hopes a jolt, but you also need safe building blocks who won't sink your team.
And before you identify some of the safest picks for 2018, you'll want to see what Fantasy analyst Pat Fitzmaurice has to say.
A former Pro Football Weekly editor and writer for over a decade, Fitzmaurice has also written for SI.com, 4for4.com and other publications. Fitzmaurice finished second in FantasyPros' 2017 rankings accuracy contest and received a 2017 Fantasy Sports Writers Association nomination for best football series. If anybody knows how to identify a safe choice, it's him.Â
One we'll give away: Titans tight end Delanie Walker. "During his five years in Tennessee, Walker has led all NFL tight ends in receptions with 356," Fitzmaurice said. "He's cleared 800 yards in four consecutive seasons. It's not that Walker deserves to be grouped with the "Big Three" at tight end this year -- Rob Gronkowski, Travis Kelce and Zach Ertiz -- but there's a case to be made that Walker is the fourth-best tight end available. His ADP in CBS leagues, however, is TE8."
Fitzmaurice has also identified a running back who finished outside the top 20 in Fantasy points last year that has starting Flex potential in 2018. He's a virtual lock to return strong production at his average draft position.Â
So who are some of the safest picks in 2018 Fantasy football drafts? And which surprising running back can you count on? ... Join SportsLine now to see the list of eight of the safest Fantasy picks for 2018, all from a Fantasy expert who has been ranked among the most accurate in the nation.Â
