Fantasy football: 5 changes ahead of Week 11 you need to know about

Jen Ryan identifies five changes ahead of Week 11 that every Fantasy player needs to know about.

We are well into the "down the stretch" portion of the football season. With just seven games left in the regular season, the amount of changes the league has seen from Week 1 until present are countless. Things change week to week and day to day at times. Football is arguably the most fluid sport in all professional sports.

Of all the things that happened last week, here are five changes from Week 10 that you need to know about.

Russel Wilson is the only quarterback with 20+ touchdowns

The MVP race is tight, and cases can be made for a handful of players each week, but Wilson has to be the front runner at this point. He led his Seahawks to a victory over their division rival and only undefeated team left in the league last week when they beat the 49ers in overtime. Wilson, as per usual, put together a brilliant performance.

His efficiency thus far has been eye popping. Wilson has just two interceptions to his league-high 23 touchdowns and is completing 68.5% of his attempts. In addition to his passing efficiency, he remains a mobile quarterback with 50 rushing attempts, fifth-most among all quarterbacks.

He is a true dual-threat and right now he is hands down the best quarterback in football.

Five non-quarterbacks have at least 200 PPR points

The Fantasy points are piling up and we have five offensive skill players in the coveted 200-point club. They are as follows:

  • Christian McCaffrey – 270 points
  • Dalvin Cook – 241 points
  • Aaron Jones – 213 points
  • Michael Thomas – 211
  • Austin Ekeler – 200 points

Those who spent a first on McCaffrey are getting what they paid for, but in many drafts Cook, Jones, and Thomas fell outside of the second and possibly even third round. Ekeler was clearly a steal as well. Any time a player well out-performs their average draft position it is a win, as value is hard to come by. These players are consistently putting up points every week and will be on more than one winning roster by the time Week 16 rolls around.

The Bengals are the only winless team in football

It is hard to imagine that a team with A.J. Green and Joe Mixon hasn't been able to squeeze out a single win, but this team is a shell of its former self. Green has yet to play in a game this season, Andy Dalton has been benched, and Mixon is essentially a one-man show out there. Tyler Boyd has failed miserably in his opportunity to step up as the alpha-receiver, and despite being healthy for the first time in what feels like forever, Tyler Eifert is the TE22 in PPR scoring.

The Bengals are now front-runners for the first overall pick, and it is apparent quarterback is going to be on their radar. It will be interesting to see if they give Zac Taylor a crack at building a franchise around that likely first overall pick.

Colin Kaepernick has his first legitimate shot at a return this weekend

The NFL announced yesterday that they will be holding a private workout for Kaepernick this Saturday in Atlanta. There are a few things to unpack here. First, it appears this was the leagues idea, as the rumor mill is suggesting that teams reached out to the league inquiring on Kaepernick's availability. He was hesitant at first and wanted to ensure this was no publicity stunt, but now by his own admission the quarterback "can't wait" for his workout this weekend.

"Controversy" aside, let's focus on the facts. There is more than one team that could use a starting quarterback right now. The Bengals and Broncos come to mind. There are a handful of teams who could also use a legitimate player as a backup, especially if they intend on making a playoff run. Those teams include the Seahawks, Cowboys, Eagles, Raiders, and Texans.

Do not count out the teams who could use a veteran behind their young signal caller, including the Jets, Steelers, Browns, and Bears.

John Harbaugh is Coach of the Year

The 7-2 Ravens sit atop the NFC north and have won five straight games. Their second-year quarterback is doing unworldly and unconventional things under center. They brought in an "aging" free agent running back in Mark Ingram and use him as a bell cow. The receiving corps is a far cry from the best in the league. Their tight end is looking like a young Rob Gronkowski out there.

Harbaugh is the leader of this team and it is evident. He has spoken more than once about his affinity for analytics, which is music to the Fantasy nerds' ears. He is innovative, runs exciting packages (I hope you didn't miss the "Heisman" package this weekend), and is getting the most out of his young quarterback.

If you haven't seen his sideline conversation with Jackson yet from this weekend, watch it. If you don't get goosebumps then you don't love football. Full disclosure: when Harbaugh told Jackson kids will be wearing number eight because of him, my allergies immediately kicked up.

If John Harbaugh isn't Coach of the Year then the system is broken.
