Fantasy Football 2021: Do Not Draft list from accomplished expert includes two Round 1 running backs
Fantasy managers head into their drafts looking to find the next big thing, an overlooked sleeper who will give them an edge in winning their leagues. But it's also important to avoid potential pitfalls early in the draft, as selecting a player who fails to live up to expectations week in and week out can sink a Fantasy season.
SportsLine Fantasy expert Jacob Gibbs has analyzed the Average Draft Position of every player available in 2021 Fantasy Football drafts and come up with a list of players that must be avoided at their current draft price. The accomplished analyst, who ranks eighth out of nearly 100 experts in accuracy from 2018-2020 at Fantasy Pros, had several hits on his Do Not Draft list last year, including avoiding Devin Singletary, Hunter Henry and Sterling Shepard.
Gibbs also put Cardinals star DeAndre Hopkins on his Do Not Draft list, saying that while the receiver was the fourth player at his position off the board in terms of ADP, he had Hopkins ranked 11th at his position. Fast forward to the end of the season and Hopkins in fact ranked 11th among receivers in fantasy points per game in 2020.Â
With a background in DFS, Gibbs builds his own projections before each NFL season. The projections help avoid overvaluing a player based on name recognition, which Gibbs believes is happening in 2021 with several big-name players including not one, but two running backs taken in the first round of many Fantasy drafts!
