Eagles vs. Packers betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 1 matchup

Before you lock in your plays for Friday's Philadelphia vs. Green Bay NFL game, check out our full betting preview.

The NFL has been competing internationally since 2007, playing regular-season games in England (London), Mexico (Mexico City) and Germany (Munich and Frankfurt). The league makes its debut in South America this year, as the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers square off in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday.

The Eagles and Packers have had limited experience beyond the United States, with both playing once in London. Philadelphia posted a 24-18 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, while Green Bay suffered a 27-22 loss to the New York Giants in 2022.

For their matchup in Brazil, the Eagles are 2.5-point favorites in the latest odds via SportsLine consensus, while the over/under for total points is 49. That number is one of the largest for Week 1, and it doesn't come as much of a surprise since Philadelphia and Green Bay were among the highest-scoring teams in the NFC last season. The Eagles ranked fourth in the conference with an average of 25.5 points in 2023, while the Packers were seventh at 22.5 points per game.

It was a tale of two seasons for Philadelphia last year. The team won 10 of its first 11 games but closed 2023 on a downward spiral, losing five of its final six contests. The Eagles were unable to turn it around in the postseason, suffering a 32-9 defeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild-Card Round despite being 3-point favorites.

Green Bay also had a Jekyll-and-Hyde campaign, although it got off to a rough start before finishing strong. After dropping six of their first nine games, the Packers turned it on down the stretch, going 6-2 over their final eight contests and stunning the Dallas Cowboys 48-32 in their Wild-Card matchup before being edged 24-21 by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

Despite their catastrophic end to 2023, the Eagles received another solid effort from Jalen Hurts, especially on the ground. Hurts rushed for 15 touchdowns to earn a share of the NFL single-season record by a quarterback, as Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills also ran for 15 scores last year. The 26-year-old Hurts is the only signal-caller in league history with at least 10 rushing TDs in three consecutive campaigns.

Meanwhile, Jordan Love made quite an impact for Green Bay after taking the reins from four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets prior to the 2023 season. The Packers moved up in the 2020 NFL Draft in order to select Love with the 26th overall pick, and he did not disappoint when thrust into the spotlight, throwing 37 touchdown passes - the third-most in league history by a quarterback in his first year as a full-time starter.
