Dolphins vs. Rams betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 10 Monday Night Football
We will officially pass the halfway point of the 2024 NFL regular season following Monday Night Football when the Miami Dolphins (2-6) visit the Los Angeles Rams (4-4), as every team in the league will have played at least nine of their 17 games. It's a must-win contest for the Dolphins as they sit 12th in the entire AFC, while the Rams are trying to keep pace with San Francisco and Arizona in the NFC West. L.A. is a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 49.
Both these clubs are where they are -- outside their respective playoff fields -- in large part due to injuries. Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed four games earlier in the season with yet another concussion and the Fins went 1-3 without him. Prior to his return, Miami had the lowest-scoring offense (11.7 points per game) in the league but has looked much better the past two weeks, scoring 27 points in back-to-back games. However, Miami might be missing star receiver Tyreek Hill tonight.Â
The defense hasn't done its job, and Miami lost the past two by a combined three points (it is 0-2 when scoring at least 20 points this year) on walk-off field goals. In my opinion, the Oct. 27 loss to the Cardinal essentially ended any shot Miami had at a third straight playoff berth, and it's not catching Buffalo in the AFC East after being swept. Coach Mike McDaniel's team is +500 to make the postseason with No at -750. The Dolphins had a preseason over/under win total of 9.5, and the SportsLine Projection Model now gives the team just a 1.01% chance of landing Over. The only teams in the NFL with a worse Over percentage entering Week 10 were the Jets and Browns.
Los Angeles was set at O/U 8.5 wins, and the model gives it a 35.8% shot of landing Over and 64.2% to go Under, which equates to -179. The Rams have surged after following the returns of top wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, both of whom missed several early season games with injuries.Â
To make the playoffs, which ropes in the NFC West title, Sean McVay's club is +230 with No at -300. If Los Angeles wins tonight, I say it makes the postseason as it has three very winnable games up next -- at New England, vs. Philadelphia and at New Orleans -- and also closes with two very winnable games at home vs. Arizona and Seattle.Â
