Chris Olave Fantasy NFL Draft Profile: An analytical look at the New Orleans Saints receiver for 2022 and beyond
Armed with a 4.26 40-time that set Twitter on fire and a three-year track record of explosive production and fluid route running, Ohio State's Chris Olave is an exciting landing spot away from being one of the most hyped Fantasy rookie WR prospects in recent years. Olave broke out as one of college football's most explosive deep threats as a 19-year-old in 2019. In 2021, he finished with career-bests in receiving yardage (936) and touchdowns (13).
Olave has a lot to like from a Fantasy perspective and deserves consideration as a top-five receiver and potentially early first-round pick for dynasty rookie draft purposes. However, he showed an inability to work as a true WR1 in three years as a starter. In fact, Olave fell to third behind Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the pecking order among Ohio State's targets in 2021. He'll begin his NFL career working behind an established target hog in Michael Thomas. Does Olave's 2021 target share suggest a limited Fantasy ceiling, or could he eventually operate as a pro-level-caliber WR1?
SportsLine's Fantasy analyst Jacob Gibbs provides a data-driven deep dive to answer that question and address anything that stood out from his advanced statistical profile.
