Cardinals vs. Mets line, odds, start time, spread pick, best bets for April 19 matchup from proven model

SportsLine's projection model, which is on a profitable 8-3 run, has locked in its MLB picks for St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets on Saturday as New York looks to clinch the series win

ByUpdated: Apr 19, 2025 3:58PM UTC . 3 min read

The New York Mets will look to win their third game in a row against the St. Louis Cardinals when they meet in a National League matchup on Saturday. The Mets (13-7), who lead the NL East, are 7-1 on their home field in 2025. The Cardinals (9-11), fourth in the NL Central, are 1-7 on the road this season.

First pitch from Citi Field in New York is set for 4:05 p.m. ET. New York is a -189 favorite on the money line (risk $189 to win $100) in the latest Cardinals vs. Mets odds from SportsLine consensus, while the total number of runs Vegas thinks will be scored, or the over/under, is 8.5.

Before making any Cardinals vs. Mets picks or MLB predictions, you need to see what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times. It enters Week 4 of the 2025 MLB season on an 8-3 run on top-rated money-line picks (+340). Anybody following could have seen strong returns!

The model knows New York is expected to send right-hander Kodai Senga (2-1, 1.06 ERA) to the mound. He has been nearly flawless over the past two games. In Sunday's 8-0 win over the Athletics, he earned the victory by pitching seven innings, allowing four hits and two walks, while striking out four. In a 2-0 win over Miami on April 7, he picked up the victory after pitching five innings, allowing five hits and two walks, while striking out four. In two career starts against the Cardinals, he is 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA.

The model also knows St. Louis will counter by sending left-hander Matthew Liberatore (1-1, 3.93 ERA) to the hill. He is coming off a dominant outing in a 7-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. In that game, he pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, while striking out seven. In an 8-4 loss at Pittsburgh on April 7, he pitched 6.1 innings, allowing eight hits, five earned runs and no walks, while striking out seven. In three career appearances against the Mets, including one start, he is 0-1.

The model has simulated Cardinals vs. Mets 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you the model is leaning Over on the run total, and it also says one side of the money line has ALL the value!
