Bills vs. Jets betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 6 Monday Night Football

Before you lock in your plays for Monday's Buffalo at New York Jets NFL game, check out our full betting preview.

For only the third time in franchise history, the New York Jets have made an in-season coaching change, and the Jeff Ulbrich era -- short as it might be -- begins tonight with a new offensive play-caller as well as the Jets (2-3) host the Buffalo Bills (3-2) to conclude Week 6. The Bills are -1 with a total of 40.5, and weather will not be a factor for the AFC East matchup. It's quite the sports day/night overall in New York/New Jersey with the Mets and Yankees both playing Monday in their respective League Championship Series.

Of course, the last time the Jets hosted the Bills was Week 1 last season in Aaron Rodgers' New York debut. That lasted all of four offensive snaps before Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon. The Jets completely collapsed offensively without Rodgers but haven't been any better so far in 2024 with him healthy. Gang Green was 2-3 through five games a year ago and had scored 93 total points. The Jets are 2-3 currently and have scored 93 points.

It has been reported that head coach Robert Saleh was prepared to fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett last week before Saleh was blindsided by owner Woody Johnson firing him instead. Johnson, with his first in-season coaching change in 25 years of ownership, said he consulted with GM Joe Douglas but called it "my decision and mine alone."

No one believes that Rodgers wasn't consulted. The quarterback was consulted by the interim head coach and defensive coordinator Ulbrich, though, when he stripped Hackett of the offensive play-calling and gave it to QBs coach and former Titans OC Todd Downing. Ulbrich will continue to call the defense.

Is there such a thing as a new coach bump in the NFL? Since 2003, 38 teams have fired their coach during the season and those clubs went 17-21 SU and 22-16 ATS in their immediate next game. The three clubs that changed during the 2023 season -- the Chargers, Raiders and Panthers -- all covered their first such game.
