Â
What: Bellator 172, Fedor vs. Mitrione
When: Sat., Feb. 18, 9 p.m. ET
Where: SAP Center, San Jose, Calif.
Odds:Â Matt Mitrione (-145), Fedor Emelianenko (-125)
Bellator gives us an interesting fight in the Heavyweight division between Fedor Emelianenko and Matt Mitrione.
Mitrione, who has won both his fights in Bellator since coming over from the UFC, has shown flashes of brilliance in his career. He should really be pumped up for this chance to fight a legend.
At age 40, Emelianenko's best fight days are behind him. I'm backing Mitrione to stay undefeated in Bellator.
Pick: Mitrione (-145)
On Sunday at UFC Fight Night in Halifax, Nova Scotia, there's a huge fight in the Heavyweight division.
Derrick Lewis, who has won his last five fights, four by KO, takes on Travis Browne, who has lost three of his last four fights. Many books are offering the fight at -110 odds both ways.
Lewis went 4-0 last year, including a decision win over always tough veteran Roy Nelson. He should be primed for a big effort Sunday night, as a win vaults him into title contention.
Browne needs a win to stay relevant in the top level of the Heavyweight division.
The fight should play out nicely for Lewis, as he loves to stay standing and trade punches -- something Browne also will be happy to do. This fight probably won't get out of the first round.
Look for Lewis to get the KO win.
Pick: Lewis (-110)
Also on the card, a Middleweight fight pits former Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks (-145) against Hector Lombard (+125).
On paper, Lombard's price looks a little high, but it's the right side to be on. This isn't as much a bet on Lombard as it is a bet against Hendricks, who has missed weight in his last two fights.
This could be a short fight.
Pick: Lombard (-145)
Citron's 2017 record: 5-7 (-3.0 units)
