Allen Robinson signs with the Los Angeles Rams: Using advanced analytics to determine Fantasy impact
Allen Robinson entered the 2021 season on the back of consecutive 150-plus target seasons and top-10 Fantasy finishes at the WR position, but things went awry in his fourth season in Chicago. He played just 12 games and was minimally effective when healthy in 2021.
Robinson was healthy throughout Chicago's first nine games, but he looked like a shell of his former self as second-year Darnell Mooney overtook him as the team's top wideout. Even though Robinson ran just nine fewer routes than Mooney during those nine games, he finished with 31.6 fewer PPR points. Robinson led the team in targets just twice during that stretch, a stark contrast from the type of usage that he had grown accustomed to as Chicago's WR1. Even with a rookie QB under center, it was certainly a surprise to see Robinson's production fall off in such a notable way during his age-28 season.
The Los Angeles Rams clearly believe that Robinson still has more left in the tank, as they inked the former All-Pro wideout to a three-year $46.5 million contract on Thursday. Will Matthew Stafford and L.A.'s offense rejuvenate Robinson's career in the same way they did Odell Beckham's?
