SportsLine simulated every possible matchup 10,000 times and the team that won over half the simulations was selected to advance. In order to "simulate the madness," we also assumed that the Nos. 3-6 seeds with the lowest win percentage when compared to other teams of the same seed would be upset. There's plenty of chaos right off the bat in the South Region of the 2026 NCAA Tournament bracket with three higher seeds advancing in the first round, including No. 11 VCU taking down blue blood and No. 6 seed North Carolina. The Tar Heels lost star freshman Caleb Wilson for the season with a thumb injury, and that ends up hurting UNC against a strong VCU squad. No. 9 Iowa takes down No. 8 Clemson, while No. 10 Texas A&M upsets No. 7 Saint Mary's. In the second round, No. 5 Vanderbilt squeezes past No. 4 Nebraska. No. 2 Houston then slips past defending champion Florida to advance.
