To the disappointment of many college basketball fanatics, the 2025 NCAA Tournament has garnered chalk-heavy results to this point. However, if you're among the crowd that simply wants to see the best teams square off against each other, this is your type of tournament.
For the first time in the modern history of the tournament, all programs in the Sweet 16 hail from power conferences and only one double-figure seed, No. 10 Arkansas from the South Region, is among the teams that are still standing. Moreover, a double-digit, point-spread underdog has yet to win a game outright.
Predictably, the No. 1 seeds in each region are heavily favored in the college basketball future odds to win two more games and reach the Final Four. The four No. 1 seeds all reaching the Final Four have happened only once — in 2008, when Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis and UCLA accomplished this feat. We could see this milestone duplicated in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, but it is still a statistical longshot.
In the current William Hill/Caesars college basketball future odds, top-seeded Duke is an overwhelming -195 favorite (risk $195 to win $100) to win the East Regional, while Houston (-130) is favored to win the Midwest, Auburn (-140) is favored in the South and Florida (-130) is the chalk in the West.
If we eliminate the favorites, is there value to be had on any of the underdogs? Although the term itself is relative and subjective, there's always a possibility of either cashing a ticket on an underdog or finding hedge value with one should your chosen team advance to the Elite Eight.
Below, SportsLine college basketball analyst Josh Nagel gives his favorite underdog selections for each region in the college basketball futures market to win their regions and reach the Final Four.
