The Denver Pioneers continue the quest for their third NCAA hockey title in four years when they face off against the Western Michigan Broncos on Thursday in the first of two 2025 Frozen Four semifinal games at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Denver, which defeated Minnesota State in the 2022 final, is looking to repeat as national champion for the fourth time in program history after having beaten Boston College last year.

Denver, which has won a record 10 titles, reached the Frozen Four for the 19th time by knocking off Providence and Boston College in the regionals. Western Michigan, which won two of its previous three meetings with the Pioneers this season, beat Minnesota State and UMass to make its first semifinal appearance.

The Boston University Terriers and Penn State Nittany Lions will meet in the second semifinal contest. Boston University, which is seeking its sixth national championship and first since 2009, defeated Ohio State and Cornell to earn a spot in the Frozen Four for the 25th time. Penn State is making its first semifinal appearance following victories against Maine and UConn in the regionals. 

Puck drop for the Denver vs. Western Michigan matchup is at 5 p.m. ET, while the Boston University vs. Penn State game is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. The Pioneers are -140 favorites in the Denver vs. Western Michigan contest via SportsLine consensus, while the over/under for total goals scored is 5.5.
