With pitchers throwing harder and having nastier secondary offerings than perhaps ever before, there are plenty of intriguing options when it comes to who will win the 2025 Cy Young Award in the American and National Leagues this coming season. 

The old adage is that the best ability is availability. That's particularly true for pitchers in today's era, as we regularly see big names go down for extended periods of time. As such, unless you're extremely confident in a pitcher's chances of both staying healthy and winning the Cy Young, wait until near the end of spring training to make your wager. Some pitchers who have otherworldly stuff but have struggled to stay healthy have some of the shortest odds of winning the Cy Young well before the season begins. 

With that being said, let's dive into the Cy Young race in both leagues this year. There are clear favorites in both leagues in Pittsburgh's Paul Skenes in the NL, who took the league by storm as a rookie, as well as Detroit's Tarik Skubal, who took home the hardware in unanimous fashion in the AL. Spoiler alert: I'm not backing a Skubal repeat, and while I think Skenes is more than capable of winning the award in Year 2, there's another ace who presents much better value.
