2025 Genesis Invitational odds, predictions: Top picks, bets, longshots to back at this week's PGA Tour event

Golf insider Patrick McDonald has broken down the 2025 Genesis Invitational field and locked in his predictions and best bets

The 2025 Genesis Invitational begins on Thursday at Torrey Pines, with tournament host Tiger Woods withdrawing after initially committing to play. The Genesis Invitational has been held at Riviera every year since 1999, but the event was moved due to the aftermath of the Southern California wildfires. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the +350 favorite (risk $100 to win $350) in the 2025 Genesis Invitational odds as he seeks his first win of the season.

Other top 2025 Genesis Invitational contenders include Rory McIlroy (+700), Collin Morikawa (+1400) and Hideki Matsuyama (+2200). Matsuyama, the defending champion of this event, can become the seventh repeat winner at the Genesis Invitational with a victory this week. Matsuyama is +160 (risk $100 to win $160) to record a top-10 finish and +360 to finish inside the top five.

Before locking in any 2025 Genesis Invitational picks, you NEED to see the PGA Tour predictions and best bets from golf insider Patrick McDonald.

McDonald joined CBS Sports as a golf writer in 2022 after stops at NBC Sports and RyderCup.com. Covering the sport from a broader perspective, McDonald still likes to dip his toes into the betting pools on a weekly basis between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and more. Featured weekly on the Early Wedge, he gave out numerous winners in 2024, including Jake Knapp (50-1) at the Mexico Open and Xander Schauffele (20-1) at the PGA Championship. He already nailed Sepp Straka as a 66-1 longshot in The American Express 2025. Anyone who followed his lead could have been WAY UP!

Now, McDonald has been digging into the 2025 Genesis Invitational field to find the best betting value and just locked in his best bets and longshots to back.

This week, McDonald loves the value of Tony Finau, an underdog at 45-1. "The board really falls off after the four top favorites, so we are going to spread the wealth among those from 45-1 to 100-1 this week. It begins with Finau, who has a stellar record at Torrey Pines despite the missed cut a couple weeks ago. The six-time PGA Tour winner has a couple top-10 finishes across the last three seasons and rattled off seven straight top 25s from 2015-21. His approach play tends to thrive on longer golf courses, and although the putter has been poor in recent years, he found some form at Pebble Beach where he finished T-13 in his last start."

Moreover, McDonald is jumping on several underdogs, including one MASSIVE LONGSHOT who's priced at more than 80-1! This golfer's "contending upside has been on display since he started playing on the PGA Tour." Anyone who backs this golfer could cash in HUGE. You need to see who it is before locking in any 2025 Genesis Invitational picks of your own.
