2024 NFL Week 15 officiating angles: Finding edges in Packers-Seahawks, Dolphins-Texans and more

SportsLine expert Larry Hartstein dives into the betting trends to know involving Week 15's referee assignments

This column -- a collaboration with NFL officiating guru Joe Gibbs -- is 51-41-1 (plus 5.97 units) since its debut last season

Gibbs (not the Hall of Fame coach, the NFL referee expert who tweets @NFLrefstats1) teams with SportsLine to deliver three weekly bets. Gibbs dives into the NFL referee assignments the moment they are released each week, unearthing the most relevant betting angles.

Before you make any Week 15 NFL picks or NFL parlays, you need to see what Gibbs and SportsLine senior analyst Larry Hartstein have to say about the officiating crews' tendencies.

A former lead writer for Covers and The Linemakers, Hartstein combines a vast network of Vegas sources with an analytical approach he honed working for Pro Football Focus. Hartstein tied for 52nd place (out of 1,598 entries) in the 2022 Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest, going 53-34-3 ATS. His weekly Vegas contest selections form the basis of his NFL best bets column, which is 96-72-3 (57.1 percent, plus 16 units) since its inception in 2022.

We can tell you Hartstein and Gibbs are betting the Packers -2.5 (-118 at DraftKings), in part because Clete Blakeman will officiate. Home teams are 65-75-3 ATS with Blakeman since the start of the 2016 season, and the Seahawks have lost four of their last five games with his crew on the whistle.

Blakeman's crew leads the NFL in penalties called per game. Seattle's offense accounts for 62.5% of the team's penalties, compared to 53% for Green Bay's offense.

Seattle is tied for second in offensive holding flags. Green Bay, meanwhile, has been called for the fewest defensive pass intereference penalties.

Hartstein and Gibbs also are sharing key officiating angles in Dolphins-Texans and Buccaneers-Chargers. You need to see this key referee data before locking in your picks!
