2024 NFL Week 11 officiating angles: Finding edges in Chiefs-Bills, Ravens-Steelers and more

SportsLine expert Larry Hartstein dives into the betting trends to know involving Week 11's referee assignments

This column -- a collaboration with NFL officiating guru Joe Gibbs -- is 46-34 (plus 8.7 units) since its debut last season

Gibbs (not the Hall of Fame coach, the NFL referee expert who tweets @NFLrefstats1) teams with SportsLine to deliver three weekly bets. Gibbs dives into the NFL referee assignments the moment they are released each week, unearthing the most relevant betting angles.

Before you make any Week 11 NFL picks or NFL parlays, you need to see what Gibbs and SportsLine senior analyst Larry Hartstein have to say about the officiating crews' tendencies.

A former lead writer for Covers and The Linemakers, Hartstein combines a vast network of Vegas sources with an analytical approach he honed working for Pro Football Focus. Hartstein tied for 52nd place (out of 1,598 entries) in the 2022 Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest, going 53-34-3 ATS. His weekly contest selections form the basis of his NFL best bets column, which is 90-66-3 (58%, +16.69 units) since its inception in 2022.

We can tell you Hartstein and Gibbs are betting the Chiefs +2.5 at Buffalo, in part because Land Clark drew the assignment. Home teams are 28-42-2 ATS (40%) in Clark's officiating career. The Chiefs are 4-0 all-time with Clark, including 3-0 on the road.

Clark's crew has assessed an above-average 56% of its penalties on the offense. That could play in KC's favor: The Bills' offense accounts for 60% of the team's penalties, compared to 47% for the Chiefs.

"False starts will be key in this matchup," Gibbs said. "The Bills' defense ranks second in generating false start penalties on opposing offenses, and No. 1 when playing at home in front of their raucous crowd.

"However, the Chiefs are the least-penalized team for pre-snap infractions."

Hartstein and Gibbs also are sharing key officiating angles in Ravens-Steelers and Bengals-Chargers. You need to see this key referee data before locking in your picks!
