2024 Fantasy Football: 12-team PPR expert mock draft features surprise No. 1 overall pick, C.J. Stroud fall

FSWA Hall of Famer Scott Engel breaks down SportsLine's PPR mock draft completed by a roster of industry experts

To help you get ready for your own 2024 Fantasy football drafts, we invited 12 Fantasy analysts to participate in a 14-round PPR Mock Draft. Starting lineups consisted of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, and one flex player. No defenses and kickers were included in the roster requirements.

Analysis of every round is featured here, and it is both fun and essential to review and dissect the 12 different strategies and approaches of every participant as the draft progressed. There were certainly some surprises that will demonstrate that you always have to adjust on the fly from the first round, rather than trying to plan ahead too much. The beginning of this draft should remind you that every draft is different, and it is often not worth the time to predict what might happen ahead of your pick slot. Three of the first five picks were at running back, which is not a usual overall trend. Robinson going off the board as the first pick was a case of a Fantasy analyst taking a stand on a guy he ranks higher than others. It's not crazy at all to take Robinson first. In leagues with savvy Fantasy players or in high-stakes leagues, aggressive drafters will push the players they want up the board before what average draft position reports will indicate.

It is satisfying to land Hill at fourth overall, considering he is being drafted first or second in many leagues. Getting Chase at seventh overall is even more of a fun feat, as he won't make it past the fourth slot in many drafts. Jefferson's first-round stock will slip in some drafts after the J.J. McCarthy injury, and you can see him potentially picked at any top-10 slot in the first round.

Brown is another good first round value at the end of the round, as he won't make it out of the top 10 in some drafts. Harrison is frequently taken in the second round, but this is another instance of a Fantasy analyst making sure to get "her guy" when she wanted to and not wait around to see if he slipped to the next round. No two drafts are alike, and this first round is a strong example of that fact, Be ready for anything and go with the flow.
