2024 Fantasy Football: 12-team half-PPR expert mock draft sees Kyren Williams, De'Von Achane picked early

FSWA Hall of Famer Scott Engel breaks down SportsLine's half-PPR mock draft completed by a roster of industry experts

The busiest time of the preseason is here, as many Fantasy football players will be drafting their teams in the final week of August and the first few days of September. We gathered 12 fantasy experts for a half-point PPR mock draft for your review before assembling a real roster.

The starting lineup requirements here were 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, and no kickers and defenses. Drafters were required to make 14 picks overall, and four points were awarded for a TD pass with other scoring categories being similar to the standard ones utilized in most league formats.

Before the Lamb holdout became more of a concern, I essentially had him and Hill tied for my preferred No. 1 overall player spot. At the top of the draft, I will take WRs over RBs in close calls because they tend to be more durable. If you have to draft three starting WRs like we did here, I certainly prefer to lean to WRs when facing tight early calls.

St. Brown may not slip to the seventh spot in many drafts, so I liked the pick by Rich Maletto to start. Chase's holdout knocked him down to the eighth spot, and that pick could turn out to be a value play for Drew Loftis, as the Bengals star returned to practicing over the weekend.

Yvette Laboy pushed Kyren Williams up the board a few slots from where he will often be picked, and I like her apparent confidence in him. I won't be buying into any speculation that Blake Corum will significantly cut into Williams' workload, and the Rams RB was a solid pick to finish out the first round.
