2024 college football betting guide: Championship futures, conference winners, betting strategies and more

Here's your one-stop shop for all of SportsLine's 2024 CFB futures content, including picks, CFP predictions and more

The college football landscape continues to transform at a breakneck pace, between conference realignments and disbandment, the transfer portal, the NIL climate and the annual musical-chair carousel of coaching personnel.

Just as a quick refresher for anyone who's college football consumption might be a step behind, the Big Ten now has 18 teams and the Big 12 is now home to 16 programs. The Pac-12, long the bastion of late-night entertainment for college football diehards, no longer exists.

Michigan is the defending national champion. Last season, the Wolverines became just the second Big Ten program to raise the trophy in the College Football Playoff era (the first was Ohio State in 2015) and the first non-SEC team to win the CFP title since Clemson in 2019.

Now, after 10 seasons of a four-team playoff that provided plenty of entertaining matchups and endless discourse about potential improvements, the CFP has changed to a 12-team format this season that includes automatic bids for five conference champions and the seven remaining highest-rated clubs.

Last season, SportsLine had numerous profitable experts in college football, and two of our best, Bruce Marshall and Thomas Casale, have been working overtime to bring you winning information for the 2024-'25 season.

For years, the Vegas-based Marshall was synonymous with The Gold Sheet, the famed sports betting newsletter. With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, he joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years. Marshall now supplies his unique and colorful brand of football and basketball analysis to SportsLine members. Last year, Marshall finished the college football season on a 17-6-2 run for a profit of nearly $1,100.

Over the past two college football seasons, Casale is 122-92-5 (57%) overall and 26-8 (76.4%) in bowl games, all publicly documented. He's also done well in college basketball, going 341-208 (62.1%) over the last three campaigns. Now, Casale has shared his strategy and best bets for college football futures. You'll want to read his advice before placing your own wagers.

We can tell you Casale advocates taking the value now on Texas +800 to win the CFP, while he recommends a wait-and-see approach on the favored Georgia Bulldogs (+300).

We'll also reveal that one of Marshall's top value picks in the conference futures market is upstart Iowa State (+900) to win the reconfigured Big 12.

We'll continue to update the list below as content is published throughout August, leading up to this season. Keep reading to see links to all of our college football futures picks and betting strategy on one page.
