2024 CFP bracket predictions, picks, best bets for quarterfinals from college football expert

SportsLine writer and former college football editor Gene Menez has identified six best bets for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal round

The 12-team College Football Playoff is down to eight after Tennessee, Indiana, SMU and Clemson were knocked out of the bracket. The quarterfinals feature four bowl games: Boise State vs. Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve and Arizona State vs. Texas in the Peach Bowl, Oregon vs. Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and Georgia vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day. Both Penn State (-11) and Texas (-14) are double-digit favorites, while Ohio State (-2.5) and Georgia (-1.5) are favored by narrow margins.

With the CFP underway, there is a plethora of betting options. Will a conference champion or an at-large team win the national title? At-large is a -225 favorite. Will No. 4 seed Arizona State reach the championship game? No is a heavy -8000 favorite. What two teams will meet in the title game? Texas vs. Penn State is the +500 favorite. Those are just three of hundreds of betting options.

I've scoured the betting menu for the CFP and identified six best bets, including two that would have plus-money payouts.
