2023 NFL futures betting guide: Odds, win totals, Super Bowl, division winners, MVP, Rookie of the Year and more

Here's your one-stop shop for all of SportsLine's 2023 NFL futures content, including picks, betting strategy and more

I love talking NFL betting throughout the season and trying to stay ahead of the market when picking NFL spreads, which I've been able to do well during my time at SportsLine. With more than 1,000 NFL against the spread picks on my expert page since 2017, I've been able to stay profitable year to year with a 535-450-30 record that is up more than 35 units. I've also hit my SuperContest picks -- essentially my five best bets against the spread every week -- at a 56.5% clip over the last seven years.

But as profitable as betting the NFL can be during the season, it offers even more potential prior to the season. If you're good at analyzing the state of the league and targeting the right overvaled and undervalued teams, you can clean up in the NFL futures market. And sometimes you can land on the perfect longshot award candidate to cash in at a big number, as I did when I recommended Patrick Mahomes as an MVP winner at +5500 in his first season as starter on CBS and the Pick Six Podcast.

I've been consistently profitable with my personal NFL futures portfolio on a year-to-year basis, and one reason is that there's less volatility than week-to-week betting, where you could have the "right" side statistically in a single game that isn't reflected in the score thanks to an unlucky bounce of the ball. Those bounces mostly even out over a 17-game season, making futures betting a relatively accurate reflection of how well your analysis holds up heading into the year.

I've published a number of NFL futures previews at SportsLine over the summer, with more than 20,000 words on markets ranging from Super Bowl champion picks to division winners and make/miss playoffs to six major NFL awards, starting with MVP and working through Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year on both sides of the ball before finishing up with Coach of the Year. You can find links to all that content below, but in this article I'll include my actual futures betting portfolio as well.

We'll do the same thing for SportsLine's team preview series, featuring win totals picks, prop plays and more futures best bets from not just me but also Larry Hartstein, Alex Selesnick (PropStarz), Mike McClure, Jeff Hochman and other SportsLine experts. We've also included all the picks from the full slate of Early Edge NFL preview shows.

Be sure to check back over the coming weeks as we take you through all 32 teams and where we sit on each as betting opportunities.
